Street Feet

Street Feet is a road safety initiative which uses a bespoke training kit designed to educate children on a range of road safety subjects. It is a modern approach to learning the Green Cross Code and is directed at children of nursery age and children within primaries one and two at school.

The Wheatley Fire Prevention and Mitigation Framework is an ongoing partnership initiative. 2018 was the first full year that the Framework was in place. This partnership between the Wheatley Group (WG) and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) provides the overarching fire safety approach taken by WG for its residential properties.

The North Ayrshire Partnership Working Programme (Supporting People with Dementia)

The North Ayrshire Partnership Working Programme (Supporting People with Dementia) started in June 2015 and ran for just over 12 months in which time 500 referrals were received that were carried forward to HFSVs for those identified. In March/April 2019 the Area plans to extend this previously successful initiative to all three Local Authorities within Ayrshire.

Smart Signs

SMART SIGNS is a multi-agency water safety pilot initiative which the Outer Hebrides Community Partnership (CSP) leads on. Safety signage is positioned at popular freshwater or saltwater shorelines and other high-risk sites like coastal paths and estuaries and is designed to assist people who come into difficulty, with a particular focus on places visitors to the islands go.

Fife Water Safety Initiative

This water safety initiative is a partnership involving Fife Council Education, Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI), Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK), Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and Gillian Barclay, the mother of Cameron Lancaster who tragically drowned in Prestonhill Quarry, Fife in 2014. RLSS Coast Guards and the Scottish Ambulance Service have also expressed an interest in being involved in the initiative.

Fife Cares operates within Fife Safer Communities Team, working with a range of public and third sector partners, including NHS, local authority housing, social work and local voluntary groups who submit referrals to the service. While the service is open to anyone living in Fife, its delivery acknowledges that areas with higher rates of deprivation experience high levels of unintentional harm and injuries.

Drivewise Borders

Drivewise Borders is a road safety initiative aimed at improving the driving skills and driver awareness of three age groups: Pre Drivers (14-17 year olds), Young Drivers (17-25 year olds) and Older Drivers (over 65s). This is led on by the Scottish Borders Council and Police Scotland, with significant input from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Cleland Volvo (local car dealership that supplies vehicles for practical learning), the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).

NHSGGC Health Improvement, Public Health leads on the programme and works closely with RoSPA, The Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, Health Visiting Teams, Health Improvement Teams in HSCP’s and with families of young children.

Travelling in Confidence is a Road Safety initiative which aims to reduce the number of persons aged 60 and over who are injured whilst travelling on a bus. Police Scotland are the lead organisation and worked in partnership with First Bus, Lothian Buses, Roar – Connections for Life, Age Scotland, Road Safety Scotland, RoSPA, Transport Scotland, City of Edinburgh Council.
